From The Desk Of: Ken Mather
Dear Friend,
Since you’ve found this website I suppose it’s ok to let you know… “I am a person who likes to make my own clothing.” The truth is, I’m always on the internet looking for the latest techniques to teach me how to sew and make my own clothes that look like they’ve come straight out of a Christian Dior shop. That’s what led me to put this website up. Let me explain…
While surfing around the internet, I stumbled upon something so fantastic that it immediately got my attention… In fact, I discovered something sooo amazing at first I thought it was "too good to be true" like most things are.
You see, a few months ago I was doing some research on Silvia K. Mager - one of the most acknowledged and influential seamstresses of the last century and of all time. I noticed that most of her work was available and accounted for with the exception of one of her most important pieces of work: ‘Guide To Home Sewing’.
By a stroke of luck, I emailed my story to one of my favorite site’s webmasters… as it turned out he had an old copy of this difficult to find book - it was right under my damn nose. After numerous emails I finally got him to mail me his copy.
I Uncovered One Of The Most Important Home Sewing Manuscripts Of All Time....
Even through it was first published in 1960, this book has the best sewing information I have ever seen.
In the 46 chapters here’s just a snippet of what you’ll learn:
- All the ins and outs of beginning to sew. Like most other things, you have to learn how to walk before you run. Sewing is the same, you’ll learn the basics of sewing before getting into the more advanced stages.
- How to do basic stitches. Learn how to thread a needle, what threads to use etc. You might need to tie a knot, learn how to do this. The basic stitch is the first you’ll learn and it’s important to know it well.
- The simple little steps on how to use a sewing machine. The sewing machine makes life so much easier. Discover some cunning little tricks to turn out some amazing clothes using your machine.
- How to use your machine attachments. There are lots of attachments you can get with a sewing machine. This section will show you how to use them like a pro, making your sewing so much easier and your clothing look like a designer article.
- What machine to pick. Here’s some useful information on what is the best sewing machine to choose when buying a new one. This is excellent information as not all machines will do a professional job.
- Newly released article on general information for sewing. Learn some great insights into how to sew like a pro.
- 5 easy steps showing you some practice stitching and some projects for you to try on your own. This will give you some excellent real-life experience.
And there’s loads more…
At this point, you might be wondering how you can get your hands on a copy…
Well here’s the good news.
After doing even more research (I told you I was committed to making my own clothes and knowing how to sew well) I have contacted the original copyright owners and gained permission to republish Silvia K. Mager's complete work on this website.
Because home sewing is my passion and I want to share it with as many people as possible, I’ve decided to do something completely unheard of these days. Believe it or not, I’m going to let you have this amazing manuscript for nothing.
It’s FREE… Yes 100% FREE
